※Social insurance fully provided (WACIL, Labor Insurance, Health Insurance/Nursing Care Insurance, Welfare Pension Insurance).
- Employees are eligible to enroll in a group life insurance plan (premiums paid by the company) after the probationary period.
- Employee’s legal heir is able to receive death condolence money in case of death due to illness or accident.
- Employees are eligible to receive total disability condolence money in case of severe disabilities directly caused by the covered accidents or events.
Group Long-Term Disability Insurance
- Employees are eligible to enroll in a group long-term disability insurance plan (premiums paid by the company) after the probationary period.
- The insurance covers any non-work related injury or illness while employed at Costco.
- Certain work-related injury or illness and commuting accident are covered by the Workmen’s Accident Compensation Insurance (WACIL).
Life Design Premium / 401k
- Costco provides life design premium based on employee’s year of service to save for retirement.
- Employee voluntary contributions are excluded from taxable income, reducing income/municipal taxes and social insurance premiums.
- Employees select investments for their own 401k portfolio from the investment options available.
- In principle, employees are able to start making withdrawals from the age of 60 with certain tax saving benefits.
Costco Membership Card
(Executive Membership)
- Costco employees and their spouse or domestics partner are entitled to an Employee Membership Card at no charge.
- After probationary period, the Employee Membership Card can be upgraded to an Executive status for free (including a spouse or domestic partner card).
- After probationary period, employees are allowed two additional membership cards (Business status) for individuals 18 years or over.
COUPON
- Employees receive an optical voucher (up to ¥10,000) that can be used at Costco Optical once a year.
- Optical voucher can be used to purchase spectacles and contact lenses.
※Available to employees who have been employed consecutively for 12 months or more.
- Employees receive a hearing aid voucher (up to ¥150,000) that can be used at Costco HAC every 4 years.
- Hearing aid voucher can be used to purchase hearing aids.

- Employees receive a pharmacy voucher (up to ¥10,000※) that can be used at Costco warehouses once a year.
- Available to employees after probationary period.
※Amount equivalent to 50% of the prescription purchased (self-paid) at Costco in one year, with a cap of ¥10,000.
